Well, I pretty much got chased outta my cottage last
night by weeds, storms, cats running off with my chickadees
<mumbles>, and a host of other things that had me
thinking a sorc had cast a nightmare on me when I wasn't
looking. No one else seemed to be seeing what I was seeing,
so I wandered up to the manor and upstairs there ran into
Cemb. HE saw the storm that was following me, and right
about then, Lord Terate shows up. <sorry, folks, but I
have no log of my interactions with Terate--new computer and
I forgot to hit the auto>.
I will relate as best I can remember, a few facts for
those involved in unraveling the mystery of the Vvrael. When
I first looked at Terate there in the manor, he was a 360
year old elven sorcerer. I later saw him as the 20 year old
youth as well, that was seen on the ledge and in ice mule,
so he has the power to change himself, and to move from town
to town with ease. He admitted he was from the Vvreal. He
was there in the manor to try and get me to join them,
promising me great power. We talked quite a while, least I
talked, trying to find out what this great power was gonna
cost me. He never did answer that, just repeatedly asked me
to join them, and pulling on me. During all this time,
anyone who came upstairs, he was killing, several folks like
Cemb, quite a few times. When I mentioned the deaths, he
said what do they matter? I got seriously annoyed at that
point, telling him they do matter. When I finally declined
his offer to join them (his use of the word 'us' was
frequent), he said he'd take my soul instead, and I was then
sent like the others to the north gate dead.
I heard then that he was causing havoc in Ice mule, while
he'd left an arch fiend behind in the landing to spread more
deaths (dern thing chased me all over), as well as a few
lessor fiends. But Terate showed up again at the north gate
(this was when I saw him as the youth), and continued to
drain spirit from folks, myself as well. Some people felt he
was gaining power from me. I don't know about that, was
pretty hectic, the noise by then, and he was quickly killing
anyone who tried to help me. He did seem to follow me and
releash the slow taking of my spirit. No magics worked
against him, nor normal weapons, however, rangers rejoice,
bows did good damage against him. I was kindly spirited away
by Tygraine to a sanctuary, with a few others, so don't know
if Terate was killed or not. His last words to me were that
we would meet again. But even in the sanctuary, we still
received visions. Mine were much like Rayvynne's, giving me
the impression that the youthful Terate was trapped in the
grotesque form he had become. I am of the opinion that the
youthful Terate, the innocent one, does need saving from
whatever it is that controlls him. How that can be
accomplished, I have no idea. Make of this account what you
will. I will be in my cottage--till the weeds show up
again--and available for questioning. Btw, this is my first
dealing with the Vvrael, other than witnessing the valiant
battle of the steeds during the restoration of the
Valley--whether that was related or not to the Vvrael.
